Benefits of Kefir
It's hard to know where to start when enumerating the benefits of kefir. A major part of our immune system consists of the beneficial bacteria and yeast that inhabit the body.. trillions. In fact they outnumber our own cells 10:1! When we take care of these, the human microbiome and reset the digestive system with a sensible natural diet, lots of water, exercise and a positive mindset, then many deep seated and serious illnesses can 'magically' disappear. However, do note that every individual is different, and many lifestyle changes are often necessary to complement kefir intake. That responsibility for our overall health always rests with us, in every choice we make. At Kefir Pakistan we strive for whole organic foods.

We are also excited to introduce Kefir, which is excellent for flora replenishment in maintaining upper and lower digestive system balance. Some of our customers at kefir Pakistan have reported healthier hair, calmer nerves and better digestion.
Bowel Health
Regular use of kefir promotes good bowel health, cleansing the intestines. Flatulence, constipation, irregular bowel movements, and intestinal disorders including IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) are generally alleviated. Many of our customers at Kefir Pakistan have found that keeping kefir for a shorter fermentation, drinking it mild has a better laxative effect. We also recommend starting gradually, as too much too soon can cause massive changes that are harder to handle. So a few tablespoons a day are a good way to start.
Fights Disease
A study of the Caucasian Mountan tribes showed that these people consumed a great deal of kefir, were very healthy and lived to a very old age (life expectancy 110-150 years!). Generally, introducing lactobacilli or friendly bacteria through lacto-fermentation heals the body at a very fundamental level. This is why there is such a plethora of wide ranging cures relating to probiotic foods, especially kefir. People have experienced a whole spectrum of benefits with many differnt conditions.
Cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, respiratory , dermatological and reproductive issues (conception, menstruation, menopause, etc), hair loss, gray hair, cholesterol levels, candida, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, TB (tuberculosis), catarrh, stomach cramps, chronic intestine infections, liver infections, gall bladder infections, bladder probems, eczema, ulcers, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, anemia, constipation, rashes, diarrhoea, high blood pressure, digestive disorders, Lyme disease, inflammation, metabolic and digestive issues, Crohn's disease, bowel issues, sclerosis, hepatitis, migraines, colitis, gout, rheumatism, hypertension, cholesterol, anti aging, blood sugar and diabetes, urinary issues, prostate cancer and lots of others. The list is endless, but it seems that probiotics, especially kefir, seem to heal the body at a core level, which enables the body to recover from illness.
Kefir Pakistan hopes to contribute to the health of our people with this inexpensive and beneficial drink.
Mineral Absorption
The lactobacilli and other organisms in kefir create an acidic environment in the gut that allows minerals to be absorbed. Often we don't realize that the nutrients we ingest may not be bio-available to our bodies and are not actually absorbed!
These little guys also make vitamin B, niacin and other important vitamins and enzymes that require probiotics to be produced and assimilated. At Kefir Pakistan the organic raw milk we use is additionally healthy, as it is populated with natural enzymes and probiotics.
Lactose Intolerance
Scientific research has discovered that the lactose intolerant may safely consume kefir to gain the tremendous health benefits of drinking milk. This is because the microorganisms in kefir actually consume the lactose, and create the enzyme lactase (which aids milk digestion). Detailed studies and research continue to show benefits for kefir consumption by those sensitive to lactose.
Those of our Kefir Pakistan customers who are lactose intolerant are always advised to ferment the kefir a longer time to digest the lactose completely. (Not too long as it can get constipating when too sour)
Calming the Nerves
Anxiety, depression, insomnia, sleep problems, ADHD are just a few of the psychosomatic issues that are found to be relieved by regular kefir use. Scientific research indicates that the bacterial make up of our gut, or biome, profoundly affects mood and personality. Recent reports indicate that regular probiotic use may become standard prescriptions for mental health issues. Our personal experience at Kefir Pakistan is that kefir significantly calms the nerves and enhances brain function.
Boosting Immunity
A major part of our immune system consists of the microbes that populate our body, primarily the gut. Regularly taking probiotic foods like kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, yogurt, viili, raw apple cider vinegar, raw milk, sourdough and similar traditional foods ensures that our body's probiotics, or beneficial bacteria are constantly being replenished. What with antibiotic use, toxins and chemicals in products, food and the environment, our good little guys in the body are constantly under threat. Modern food habits of fast, pasteurized food does not support the human biome and we need to make deliberate efforts to ensure the immune system is strengthened and supported.
A significant number of our customers at Kefir Pakistan have had antibiotics and as a result, a disturbed gastrointestinal system.
Detoxification
The bacteria in kefir are aggressive. What this means is that they actually attack other bacteria and colonize the system. So unlike yogurt, for example, using kefir will not only supply you with beneficial microorganisms, it will actually destroy the harmful microorganisms! Kefir attaches to the intestinal walls and prevents the bad bugs from having access.
So not only will kefir detoxify your body of pathogens, it also produces organic acids that draw toxins out of the liver ( a major detox organ). It relieves constipation which enables elimination.
There is a flax seed and kefir detox recipe that many people have found very useful.
In fact, we at Kefir Pakistan learnt of this diet from several people who bought grains from us.
In Russia women regularly use a kefir fast after weaning their babies to lose weight. They drink it diluted with warm water.
